Internal moulded hardboard doors
INTERNAL MOULDED HARDBOARD DOORS
Hardboard and MDF are very tough materials which does not dent or splinter. It is very dense and does not need to be solid like conventional timber. The hollow doors are therefore just two skins separated by a small softwood frame which incorporates a lock block approximately a metre from the top or bottom of the door. The location of the lock-block is identified by the symbol of a key on the top rail.
The solid doors have the same appearance as the hollow doors but are filled with either chipboard or solid pine. This increases their strength and they are especially suitable for sound reduction or for use when severely reducing the original size as may be required for under stairs cupboard doors.
The fire check variety again look exactly the same but are 44 mm thick to conform to their 30 minute fire resisting status.
Because hardboard and MDF are a dull brown colour, all these doors are supplied either white primed or factory finished to make them more attractive and to ease the final painting.
